This past week, I shared a blog post on my DIY blog on how to find serenity and inspiration through making art. Specifically, creating art using various paints, tools, pencils and more for play and fun. Creating mixed media art is one of my favorite ways to get back into my creative zone and find inspiration and ideas for my patterns and other art. Check out the blog post here. I created a few more projects that I did not share on my DIY blog, and I am sharing them here. I will be uploading them for art prints soon, but wanted to share with you in this week’s Studio Notes.
I love creating art. Whether it is mixed media, watercolor, gouache, acrylics, or more, I think making art is a great way to connect deeply, find joy, and use your creativity in a fun and relaxing way.
I was inspired by some mixed-media art videos I watched recently. It perfectly aligned with my plan to get my mixed media sketchbook and work on it just for fun, no pressure, just create for me. Sometimes I work on a new page, other times just create a fun background to later come back and finish, or just add details to earlier pages that can be enhanced with a few more elements.

Every artist enjoys different ways of creating. I love working with gouache and watercolors but these mixed media explorations are a great way to try different materials, textures and new tools and techniques. There is never too many art materials for the artist at heart.
