Over the past few weeks, I’ve been waiting for the new Affinity update. I use the Affinity apps for most of my workflow, and a few weeks ago, the team at Affinity indicated that there would be a big announcement on October 30th. Yesterday, they announced that they combined all three apps (Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, and Affinity Publisher), which I use all the time in my workflow, into a single app, and it is now free for everyone. This is fantastic news for me as I use both Photo and Designer in my regular workflow for creating cards and patterns. I set out to try the new app, and I am really happy with the updates so far. There are other new features now available that I have not used yet, but I am looking forward to continuing to learn and use the new features in the updated app soon, especially the Image Trace!
I recorded a short video with the workflow for “cleaning” my watercolor artwork and then creating a simple pattern with that artwork in Affinity V3. In this video, I share what is slightly different and what is new. For the most part, it is all very similar, and what is exciting is that it brings some efficiency in my process since I don’t have to go from one app to the other. Take a look at the video. I was super excited to share the process.
