This is a simple yet calming and serene pattern I worked on this week. I used to create assets for patterns by painting in black ink, then vectorizing and creating patterns. I went back to those times for this one. I like the simplicity of the ivory white flowers for a serene and calm mood.

My two favorite art mediums are gouache and watercolor. I got the watercolors out to get back into a routine of using watercolor as well. We will see how it goes. I will keep you posted. The pink flowers were painted in gouache and the red flowers in watercolor.

I have something a bit different to share today. I've been working on some blender patterns for the #psablenderbonanza and experimenting with radial flowers in Fresco, then using them in Affinity Designer. I created the texture using a gritty brush in Photoshop. This is a fun, modern take on picture frames and symmetric flowers.

Creating these simple flower patterns is one of my favorite things to do. Scroll to see the various colorways and the original painting. My process usually starts by painting the art on watercolor paper using gouache, then scanning and bringing it to life in Photoshop or Affinity Designer. However, lately, Affinity Designer has been the winner since I can clean up the art, save it in assets, and create the pattern so easily.
