The past week I have been exploring painting buildings with nature elements. First, I painted a small house front with a large rose bush in front, with bright, beautiful pink flowers and a lovely blue door. The second painting was a scene of two buildings, keeping the main focus on a lovely peach building with lovely blue windows and door. While painting these small paintings, I definitely learned a lot.
I decided to use the colors out of the jelly containers instead of mixing my own colors as I usually do with my landscapes paintings. I did this for most of the colors except for the greens. The green colors out of the tube always need some mixing to make them look more natural. This way I kept the focus mainly on the buildings, textures and techniques instead of making new colors.

These two small studies were fun to paint and a great learning experience. I am excited to continue painting small buildings, and village scenes.
